Alert: Bad Code Regs Avoided in Bonita Springs

On August 1, 2018, Bonita Springs was set to implement a requirement that all change-outs go through plan review and include a spot survey for set-back compliance before a permit would be issued.  SWACCA working in close cooperation with the Bonita Springs Building Department and the Collier County BIA, went before the Bonita Springs City Council to request a delay in implementing the new procedure.  After SWACCA Board President Tim Dupre and Board Member Rick Sims presented the harm and danger to Bonita Springs citizens caused by any delays in obtaining permits, the Council agreed to review the ordinance that they believed necessitated the new process and work with industry to accomplish set-back compliance.

SWACCA will keep members updated on progress on any new procedures.  Until then, Bonita Springs is following procedures that have been in place for more than 10 years.

Any questions about change-out permitting in Bonita Springs, contact the SWACCA office at 727-209-0890.
